NASSAU, BAHAMAS – On this day in Bahamian history in 2008, Bahamian film Rain premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was the first Bahamian film to be featured at TIFF. Directed by Maria Govan, it was the last film actor Calvin Lockhart appeared in before his death in 2007.

In 2019 – huge crowds of Abaco residents gathered at the Treasure Cay Airport trying to leave after monster Hurricane Dorian destroyed the island days before.

And finally, in 2022 58 58-year-old Caroline Diplacido of Erie, Pennsylvania, was attacked and killed by a shark while on a day excursion at Green Cay. The mother of three was on day three of a seven-day cruise with her family when the attack happened.
