NASSAU, BAHAMAS – After a significant surge in crime and the issuance of travel advisories by the United States and Canada, coupled with reports of alleged sexual assault leading to widespread dissemination of disheartening information on social media about The Bahamas, Minister of Tourism, Investments, and Aviation Chester Cooper says his ministry and all industry stakeholders are committed to being part of the turnaround.

However, the tourism minister says his ministry is actively engaged in dispelling any notions that The Bahamas is unsafe.

In fact, he says the message is already making an impact.

An aggressive campaign is underway in various U.S. cities and other countries, including Canada.

Similar initiatives are also underway here at home, with efforts to engage wholesalers, tour operators, and other stakeholders to share accurate information with visitors who may have concerns.

And while progress is being made, the minister acknowledged that there is still work to be done to fully restore confidence in the safety of our destination.
