UNITED STATES – Toyota is recalling approximately 280,000 pickup trucks and SUVs in the U.S. due to a transmission issue that could cause the vehicles to move forward unexpectedly while in neutral.

The recall affects specific Toyota Tundra pickups, Lexus LX 600 SUVs (2022-2024 models), and Toyota Sequoia SUVs (2023-2024 models).

Toyota disclosed that certain components of the automatic transmissions may not disengage promptly when shifted into neutral, potentially transferring engine power to the wheels.

This could result in the vehicles creeping forward at low speeds on flat surfaces, posing a crash risk if brakes are not applied.

While Toyota did not specify any reported crashes or injuries related to this issue, dealers will address the problem by updating the transmission software. Owners can expect to be notified about the recall by late April.
