NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There is growing fallout now from the viral video of a student brawl at C.V. Bethel Senior High School, as more parents speak out about the violent altercation between two female students earlier this week. The incident, caught on camera and widely shared on social media, has renewed concerns about safety on campus.

We first reported on this story Wednesday, when the mother of one of the girls claimed the school failed to protect her daughter. Today, we returned to the campus to hear from other parents, many of whom had strong and differing views.

The viral video shows two students locked in a brutal fight as classmates record. While one parent believes schools can only do so much in an age where children consume so much violent online content, he says consequences should be immediate and firm.

Other parents urged caution, arguing that without knowing both sides of the story, it’s unfair to jump to conclusions. One parent noted that conflict often builds over time, and the child seen fighting may have reached a breaking point after being provoked.

For many, the conversation came back to home training and conflict resolution. Parents said that if adults don’t know how to manage anger or communicate calmly, their children are unlikely to learn those skills.

School violence is not new, and in some cases, fights have ended tragically. The Ministry of Education has taken steps in recent years to work more closely with police to keep campuses safe.

Still, some parents believe the solution lies in identifying and removing disruptive students before situations escalate.
