TRINIDAD & TOBAGO – The government of Trinidad and Tobago says it will allow the U.S. military access to its airports in the coming weeks, as tensions continue to rise between Washington and Venezuela.

Officials say the access will be strictly logistical, supporting supply replenishment and routine personnel rotations, and insist the country will not be used to launch attacks on any nation.

But the move has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition, with former Foreign Minister Amery Browne accusing the government of deepening regional tensions and undermining sovereignty.

The announcement comes as the U.S. ramps up military pressure on Venezuela, including naval operations in the Caribbean.
