NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 22-year-old man is behind bars after being accused of a shooting that left a man on bail for murder dead.

Prosecutors say Treyvar Taylor, and another, fatally shot Pedreito Mejias Jr and attempted to murder Deon Excelant on April 25.

According to police, Mejias was a passenger in a Nissan Cube driven by Excelant when the occupants of another Cube opened fire on them at Montgomery avenue in Flamingo Gardens.

Excelant was unharmed; however, Mejias died on the scene.

At the time of his murder, Mejias was on bail for the 2019 murder of Javardo Thompson in Fox Hill.

Taylor was not required to enter pleas to charges of murder and attempted murder when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Joyann Ferguson-Pratt.

Bail was denied and he returns to court on August 30.
