NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two inmates are facing charges in relation to a scheme to get bail.

Prosecutors say accused murder Dontee Riley and accused armed robber Stephen Greene used illegally obtained cellphones and pretended to be prison officials when they contacted Justice Joyann Ferguson-Pratt and Registrar Jennifer Bastian through messaging platforms concerning their bail applications.

The men are also accused of presenting the court with forged letters from Dr Darius Bain, Dr Basil Dookran, MP Leroy Major and attorney Desmond Edwards in support of their bail applications.

The men denied the charges at their arraignment before Magistrate Kara Deveaux.

Bail was denied and the accused return to court in March for trial.
