NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Two new judges moving up the rankings as a new Acting Justice of the Court of Appeal and a new Acting Chief Magistrate were sworn in on Wednesday.

The judiciary seeing two familiar faces move up in the ranks.

The most senior of them is Senior Justice Bernard Turner. He spoke with Our News just after he was sworn in as an Acting Justice of The Court of Appeal.

Turner who has served as the Senior Justice of the Supreme Court, says he looks at his new position as another form of serving the country.

He says in our 50th year of independence he’s proud of his years of service to the country.

Earlier Roberto Reckley was sworn in as Acting Chief Magistrate at the Hansard Building by Chief Justice Sir Ian Winder.

He says finding out he was selected was a humbling experience.

A local daily reported that some magistrates with more experience felt overlooked by the selection of Reckley.

We asked the new acting chief magistrate what he feels his experience will bring to the role.
