Two Killed In Double Homicide At Busy East New Providence Intersection

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A frightening and deadly situation unfolding just before noon today after a pair was gunned down at a traffic light on Prince Charles Drive. It pushes the country’s the murder count to four for the year.

At the scene there were 3 cars riddled with bullets. Police making a grim discovery in the grey cube.

A young boy who was a passenger in the blue car was injured after he was hit by shattered glass.

On scene was Agriculture and Marine Resources Minister Jomo Campbell. He identified one of the victims as 30-year-old Deno Smith. According to Campbell, smith was celebrating a birthday today

Police say Smith was no stranger to law enforcement. Back in 2015, Smith and his brother were acquitted of possession of a firearm with intent to put another in fear.

He was also charged in connection with the murder of Levardo Sherman Devaux in 2017 but was acquitted of those charges as well.

More recently, the thirty-year-old smith was charged in May 2023 with gun and ammunition possession.

Police also say the suspect’s vehicle was recovered in the Hanna Road area.
