GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The anticipation in the room was visible as American diplomats and Bahamian officials gathered to watch the results of the 2024 U.S. Election unfold at the historic prop club located on the grounds of the Grand Lucayan Resort.

Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy Suemayah Abu- Douleh expressed her satisfaction at seeing Americans turn out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.

Chargé d’Affaires Kimberly Furnish notes the election season has been an exciting time for Americans.

“I am happy to see Americans expressing their opinions,” she said.

I’m happy for democracy. I’m proud to be a U.S. citizen today, and always.”

Among the Bahamian attendees was economist Edison Sumner who shared his perspective on the economic implications for The Bahamas traditionally seen when the republican party is in power.
