USA – Airline regulators will not be rushed into clearing grounded Boeing 737 Max 9 planes after a mid-air blowout.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg emphasized the need for the aircraft to be “100% safe” before resuming operations. Boeing’s CEO, Dave Calhoun, acknowledged a “Quality escape” and raised concerns about lapses in inspections and original work contributing to the incident.

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration grounded 171 Boeing jets with a similar configuration, affecting operations for Alaska and United Airlines.

Buttigieg prioritized safety over a specific timeline, while affected airlines await revised instructions from boeing for aircraft resumption.
