UNITED KINGDOM – Tens of thousands of nurses are staging a day of strikes across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

It’s an ongoing dispute over pay versus cost-of-living increases.

This is the first strike in their 106-year-long history. A second strike is planned for December 20.

Nurses in urgent and emergency services remained on duty, but with reduced numbers at many non-urgent services.

The Royal College of Nursing General secretary, Pat Cullen, said they didn’t want to strike, but had to amid the highest inflation levels in 40 years.

Protestors agree.
