COLOMBIA – A United Nations report says cocaine production boomed in Colombia during the pandemic, with the total area harvested for cacao leaves growing 43 percent in 2021.

A new annual survey by the UN office on drug and crime says the amount of potential cacao produced grew a further 14 percent. It’s why experts believe Colombia is producing more cocaine than ever in its history.

Just this week two women were detained in Colombian airports after trying to smuggle nearly two kilos of cocaine hidden in hair extensions.
