NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Grand Bahama native Darryn Palacious – better known as Wizzard to his fans – says he wants to ensure that Bahamians from all generations realize how great we are as a nation with his new video “242”.

Wizzard is a proud Bahamian artist who uses his music to promote Bahamian pride – his newest release, “242”, is a continuation of themes he explores in earlier works. He says he always wanted to be involved in music and remembers frequently expressing himself to his peers and teachers at any opportunity in his earlier years.

“That was my first performance on stage in Grade 6 assembly and ever since then I fell in love with it and just I just continue to do it ever since,” the artist recalls.

This Bahamian artist uses his native accent and unique Bahamian phrases to remain true to his roots even though he does not perform rake and scrape music.

Wizzard says his latest video highlights many of the feats that Bahamians have accomplished – making a mark on the world stage despite the nation’s relatively small size.

“Sometimes, it goes unnoticed that from a small country we did great things,” Wizzard says. “How much people could say they had the number one pick in the NBA draft? How much people could say that day how the best player in the WNBA? How much people could say they been to the Olympics…So I just wanted to remind people that you did some excellent things.”(sic)

Wizzard says he only got to scratch the surface in this song and says he has plans to release more music soon.

In the meantime, he invites you to connect with him on social media. He wants to leave this message as The Bahamas prepares to celebrate its 49th Independence.

“Never forget where you from and never forget that it’s one of the best places on earth.”
