EXUMA CAYS – The search continues for a 66-year-old American male, whose aircraft, reportedly crashed in waters east of the Exuma Cays on Friday June 9th. The aircraft was a PA-32R Saratoga, registration number N-9253M.

Reports indicated that shortly before 9AM., the pilot departed from the Palm Beach airport and was en route to Stella Maris, Long Island, when he reportedly encountered bad weather and subsequently lost contact with air traffic control.

Officers from the Royal Bahamas Police Force Marine Unit, the Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marine Unit, along with U.S Coast Guard and private residents conducted search and rescue efforts in the area. They discovered an oil slick, where the plane reportedly crashed. However, the plane nor the pilot were located.
