UNITED STATES – Egg prices are set to skyrocket in 2025, with the USDA predicting a 41% jump. That’s more than double its earlier forecast of 20%.

The culprit? Bird Flu.

The outbreak has hit commercial egg farms hard, with nearly 19 million egg-laying hens affected in January alone.

Prices are already climbing. In January, eggs were up 53% from a year earlier, hitting an average of $4.95 a dozen. And wholesale prices up 40 cents in just 30 days.

Experts warn there’s no relief in sight as the virus continues to spread.
