VENEZUELA – New U.N. data shows more than 7 million Venezuelans have left their homeland since 2015 due to economic and political crises.

More than half face challenges with food, housing, and stable employment.

Despite these difficulties, the flow of Venezuelans trying to escape the turmoil has not let up.

Aid agencies fear these migrants could be forgotten amid all the other problems happening around the globe.

The report shows more than 80% of those who left Venezuela are living in Latin America and the Caribbean – countries already struggling with healthcare and education for their own citizens.

Venezuelan migrant Gustavo Bichi says, “Feelings of disappointment and defeat go through my head, although as a Venezuelan I am a warrior. I arrived from Chile to Bogota, I traveled six days, I got off one bus and got on the other.

“I left family and work in the southern country to seek to reach the United States, but with the new immigration measures, we are left with the illusion of the American dream and better quality of life for us and the family,” he said.
