Venezuela’s President Reaffirms ‘Sovereignty And Independence’

VENEZUELA – Acting President Delcy Rodríguez reaffirms her claim to leadership in Venezuela, saying the government stands firm on “sovereignty and independence”.

She spoke during the opening of the school year Monday following a U.S. military operation that captured former President Nicolás Maduro earlier this month and deposed his administration.

The comments come after U.S. President Donald Trump shared a fake wikipedia image on his platform Truth Social identifying himself as “acting president of Venezuela”, a move that has sparked much global backlash.

The White House also confirmed Trump will meet Venezuelan Opposition Leader María Corina Machado in Washington Thursday, as questions linger over the country’s political transition.
