MEXICO – Mexico’s Security Secretary says 25 members of the National Guard were killed in a series of attacks following the death of Jalisco New Generation Cartel Leader Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, known as “El Mencho.”

Officials say he died after being seriously wounded in a military raid in the Western state of Jalisco, as government intensifies pressure on major cartels, with U.S. authorities providing what Mexico calls “complementary information.”

Reuters witnesses and video show chaos at Guadalajara International Airpor, with flights delayed, passengers taking cover and smoke rising near the tarmac as cartel members torched vehicles and blocked highways across multiple states.

President Claudia Sheinbaum says all roadblocks have now been cleared and normal activity restored.
