NASSAU, BAHAMAS – In a way too early candidate for game of the year, VJ Edgcombe got the welcome home win in the most thrilling fashion you could imagine.

Edgecombe finished with 10 points, but it was Jeremy Roach’s three at the buzzer that lifted no.13 Baylor to a 99-98 win over no.22 St. John’s Thursday night in double overtime at the Baha Mar Convention Center.

Edgecombe paid homage to The Bahamas with the flag themed Kobe 5 PE’s but had just three points at the half.

After a wardobe change at half time, he made big plays down the stretch, especially in overtime – and added  four rebounds, three steals, three assists and two blocks.

The Bears advanced to the continental tire Baha Mar Hoops – Bahamas Championship tonight where they will face the no.11 Tennessee volunteers.

The Vols defeated Virginia 64-42 win in the other semifinals.

It will be the fourth matchup against a ranked team this season for Baylor, in just six games.

Baseball

International baseball returns to the Andre Rodgers National Stadium and The Bahamas will once again host some of the top teams in the region.

The under 15 Caribbean baseball cup will be hosted December 4-9 and features five countries as The Bahamas prepares to take on the Dominican Republic, Cuba, St. Maarteen and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The last time this team appeared at a tournament was World Baseball Softball Confederation’s under-15 Pan Am qualifiers last march in the Dominican Republic.

Team Bahamas entered the tournament ranked number 59 by WBSC the and finished with wins over 10th ranked panama and 31st ranked Argentina.

The Bahamas finished fourth in group a, just outside of an opportunity to play for the fifth and final spot in the u15 World Cup.

They also improved the country’s WBSC ranking 12 spots to number 47.

NCAA Swimming

Lamar Taylor continues to deliver standout performances as he makes his transition to the Tennessee Vols, the 11th ranked team in the country.

At the Tennessee Invitational, Taylor was a member of the  200 free relay that set a school record and currently the top time in the nation at 1:13.96 seconds.

He swam a 18.56 second split.

In the individual 50 free, Taylor posted a time of 19.15 seconds, tied for the fifth-best mark in program history.

Taylor also posted the 10th fastest time in vols history in the 100 back at 46.42 seconds
