NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A national conversation on the immigration woes of the country is long overdue, according to a former Minister of Immigration, Brent Symonette.

Symonette served for many years in that capacity during the Ingraham administration.

He says there are some serious factors that play a role in our immigration woes, including fraud and collusion.

Symonette, who has also served as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, added that while the recent spike of illegal migrants coming to our shores can be attributed to the economic in situation in Haiti, resolving the issue may simply boil down to dollars and cents.
