NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Globally, Father’s Day is a time filled with adoration, appreciation, and presents.

From socks to cigars and colognes, Father’s Day gifts vary depending on your dad’s unique interests. But, there’s one local Father’s Day staple that some Bahamian men have started to grow tired of. And with that said, we hit the streets to find out exactly what gifts dads really want.

Tavares Lunn
“I want a jeep, y’all think I joking? What kind of jeep? Acura.”

However, for those that already purchased dozens of crabs in preparation for the day, all is not lost.

Some fathers still request the popular dish.

Garvin Joseph
“Crab n’ rice, yes. I have some for lunch right now.”

Leslie Williams
“Crab n’ rice is great, you know, as long as it’s cooked nice. You have all your ingredients in there, it’s a Bahamian delicacy. It’s nice along with fish and some other stuff, you got it.”

So, while some dads dream big, others are just fine with a well-seasoned plate of tradition. Whether it’s a luxury ride or a homemade meal, one thing’s for sure, Bahamian dads deserve to feel appreciated in their own way.
