The vulnerability, combined with a bug in IOS and IPADOS, could let attackers steal information.
WhatsApp says fewer than 200 people were affected.
The company says it has notified those users and urges everyone to update to the latest version.
Apple says it has also issued its own fixes, but it’s still unclear who was behind the attacks.
