NASSAU, BAHAMAS – There seems to be an increase in complaints when it comes to people working in the country illegally more specifically, working outside the per view of their work permits.

But Bahamians are choosing to post those complaints to social media instead of reporting them to immigration and labour officials.

That according to Labour and Immigration Minister Keith Bell who shared as much with reporters before the weekly cabinet meeting, yesterday.

The minister also shared that the issue of work permits has come up in recent meetings with the director of immigration.

He says both the person breaching their work permit as well as the employer will be punished, but that’s only if the relevant authorities find out.
