Youth In Fight Against Climate Change

The first Regional Youth Conference on Climate Change takes place in Nassau at The University of The Bahamas.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The fight against climate change has been a hot topic for some time now and this morning, our nation took the initiative to host the first Regional Youth Conference on Climate Change. The event is the first of its kind, bringing together youth from around the region to discuss issues surrounding climate change and to discuss innovation solutions.

The fight to stop and reverse climate change has new faces.

Young people who live in small, developing island nations in the Caribbean are now a the forefront.

Minister of Education and Technical and Vocational Training Glenys Hanna Martin, noting that this conference allows future generations to secure their future.

Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Vaughn Miller, emphasizing the continuing negative effects of climate change. He says now is the time for young people to take the helm of change as they are the inheritors of the planet.

Minister with responsibility for youth Mario Bowleg, adding that young people are valuable contributors to the fight, whether through education, science, technology or everyday action.

At the end of the conference, the ideas will be presented to the government.
