NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A man convicted of attempted incest with his 13-year-old niece will spend 15 years behind bars.

The 61-year-old sexual predator learned his fate when he appeared before Justice Dale Fitzpatrick.

The man will have to serve the entire sentence because sex offenders are not entitled to time off for good behaviour.

However, he will receive credit for time spent in custody awaiting trial.

The court heard the incident happened in June 2024 when the then 59-year-old touched his niece inappropriately.

The girl put up a struggle and the man abandoned his rape attempt after she began to cry.

He then gave her $10 and told her not to tell anyone.

The girl immediately told the convict’s mother, who lived next door.

She called the police after he admitted to sexually assaulting her granddaughter.
