NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 56-year-old man has been handed a two-year jail sentence for indecently assaulting his teenage stepdaughter.

The man faced a maximum sentence of three years.

The Court accepted evidence that the man touched the 15-year-old’s private parts on two occasions in 2021.

The first incident happened while the teen was lying down in parents’ bedroom and the man put his hands in her pants.

The second indecent assault took place as the child left the bathroom.

In passing sentence, Assistant Chief Magistrate Carolyn Vogt-Evans told the man that his actions were unacceptable.

His lawyer Linda Virgill gave notice of her intention to appeal the decision.
