NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Local Organizing Committee CEO Lynden Maycock shared his sentiments exclusively with Our News about the CARIFTA 50 Audit that was compiled by the Auditor General’s Office.

The audit reports on the 2023 CARIFTA Games and covers the period from September 1st, 2022 to April 30th, 2023.

It was tabled in the House of Assembly on Wednesday. Here’s Maycock’s response to the findings.

The audit found documents presented did not indicate the 2023 CARIFTA Games company was registered correctly and the local organizing committee did not always keep invoices.

When it came to adherence to the CARIFTA Games budget, the audit also noted there was no evidence of agreed-upon budgetary adjustments and that there was a deficit of more than $829,000 at the end of the regional games. Maycock also responded to that.

As for the 2023 CARIFTA Games not being properly registered.

Now I reached out to the Auditor General’s Office for a response but was told that Auditor General Terrance Bastian is off the island.
