NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexually abusing his stepdaughter.

Dane Patrick Reynolds faced 12 counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old dependent, spanning a six-month period starting from February 2024.

The abuse took place in the marital home.

Reynolds, who’s a Jamaican barber, was arrested after she told her mother about the abuse.

Justice Darron Ellis said the sentence reflected the court’s “denunciation of this serious breach of trust”.

Adding, she was entitled to safety, protection and care.

Justice Ellis said instead, the convict exploited his position as a stepfather and parental figure and repeatedly violated her over a period of months.
