NASSAU, BAHAMAS – $30 million is the price tag for upcoming hurricane preparations, according to Alex Storr, Executive Chairman of the Disaster Reconstruction Authority, three months out from the start of the 2023 Atlantic hurricane season.

Storr says while the budget request submitted to the Ministry of Finance hasn’t been approved, the funds will position the authority to prepare for whatever this season brings.

The DRA continues to clean up debris nearly four years after hurricane Dorian devastated parts of Abaco and Grand Bahama in 2019.

In September, Storr said around $37 million was spent on debris cleanup.
