NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A Haitian woman who used a forged Bahamian driver’s license as ID at the airport in Bimini has to pay $4,000 in fines to avoid spending eight months in prison.

Stephanie Beauchamp pleaded guilty to possession of a forged document and uttering a forged document at her arraignment before senior magistrate Kendra Kelly-Burrows.

Beauchamp, who has a work permit, was booked to travel to Nassau when she presented the bogus ID.

She claimed that she paid a friend $250 to get her the driver’s license, which she intended to use a form of ID, since she doesn’t know how to drive.
