Devynne Defends 60mH World Indoor Title

NANJING – Devynne Charlton raced Sunday morning, taking the championship in 7.72 seconds, a hair off the world record pace of 7.67 seconds she ran last year.

Charlton won by the thinnest of margins with Ditaji Kambundji of Switzerland hot on her heels running 7.73 seconds to take silver and Jamaian Ackera Nugent running a 7.74 to claim bronze.

Coming into today, only three women have ever run under 7.8 in the event but the top six finishers in this race did, making it the fastest 60-meter hurdles finals ever.

Devynne’s compatriot Denisha Cartwright also competed in the event but she was eliminated in the semifinal when she came third in a time of 8.08 seconds.

Swimming

That’s one of Barracudas coaches, Kadesha Culmer – her club welcomed Olympian Lilly King to The Bahamas to teach fundamentals of swimming at a two day clinic.

The first day was open to Barracuda swimmers only.

The clinic was held at St. Andrew’s Pool and King was happy to share her journey from Indiana to the Olympic podium with the young swimmers.
