Former AG: More Women Needed In Leadership

A former Attorney General is speaking out on gender-based issues, saying she believes part of the solution is more women in leadership.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The issue of gender-based violence and marital rape has sparked national debate and now a former Attorney General is speaking out saying she believes part of the solution is more women in leadership in all facets of our society.

Sasha Lightbourne reports.

 



Former Attorney General Allyson Maynard-Gibson has long been known to be an advocate for women’s rights in the country and she likened what’s happening now to the woman’s suffrage movement.
The former AG says more needs to be done and it needs to happen now.

Speaking specifically to marital rape, she believes it does exist and commented on the political will to just decriminalize the issue.
