UNITED STATES – Ford is recalling nearly 274,000 SUVs, including popular expedition and Lincoln Navigator models because of a brake issue that could raise the risk of a crash.

According to federal safety officials, the front brake lines in some 2022 to 2024 models may have been installed incorrectly, putting them in contact with engine parts and possibly causing leaks or even brake failure.

So far, Ford says it’s gotten 45 reports of leaking brake lines but no crashes or injuries.

Still, the company is asking drivers to bring affected vehicles in for a free inspection and repairs.

If you’re not sure if your SUV is impacted, you can check using your vin on Ford’s recall site or through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
