A Helping Hand to the Many Who Once Served on the Crime Fighting Frontlines

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Lovern Wildgoose and the Police Legends Retired Group has been working these past few months to seek out, and help sick and shut in police force retirees –
many who once served on the frontlines, and are now forgotten.

They are not only uplifting their spirits with regular visits, but also offering welfare assistance especially to those without insurance.

On Saturday, they provided one of the tastiest treats of all – a traditional Bahamian breakfast, which also came along with much needed blood sugar and pressure tests.

Woodside along with Christopher Rahming say they were inspired by the great needs they found from their retiree visits.

“So we started a visitation group, and going around was good, but hearing the stories and persons so happy to see you come to visit, that really touched me. So today, I decided with my other two guys who go out…that I’m gonna bring them together to my house.”

“It’s a co-partnership, and what we really do is get together, to ensure that those police officers, former and retired, we find them, and we give them immediate care and welfare.”

“To some extent, we have to pay for their travel, as you will know, that we have a special ambulatory bus to deal with them. We have a feeding program, and so forth. It required time and money, but it’s our compassion and our need to help these people.”

Former officer Wanda Kemp-Stuart was one of the many seniors this group was able to help, as a recent shut in who was also hospitalized for two months.

Right beside her was her dear friend Cleophas Cooper who devoted 39 years to the Royal Bahamas Police Force.

They shared with us what this act of kindness means to them.
