NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Every Wednesday officers from the Southern Division assemble in the early morning hours to prepare and distribute breakfast for those living in the community.

It’s an initiative they started last September, with officers going beyond the call of duty to reach the community one adult and one child at a time with the most important meal of the day.

The program involves feeding breakfast every Wednesday at the Quakoo Street Police Station.

Officer-in-Charge of the Southern Division Chief Superintendent Antonio Munroe explains that as a young boy from Hatchet Bay, Eleuthera, he went to school many days without food.

Leading the charge is manager of Community Policing for the Southern Division Inspector Freddie Lightbourne who says the meal goes beyond just feeding people.

Resident chef, Woman Police Corporal Yvonne Adderley cooks the meals every week.
