NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Ministry of Works and Utilities has a laundry list of projects underway throughout the Family Islands, but they don’t come without their challenges.

Senior Engineer for the Family Islands David Cox tells us Family Island projects can come with extra hurdles, and ongoing work on long island is no exception.

Cox says the main issue has been as a result of the need for granite in the hot mix asphalt project.

In pre-pandemic times, granite was easily sourced from Canada, but now, they find themselves trying to get it from Caribbean sources.

While the landing logistics have posed some hold ups, the senior engineer remains hopeful the project will be completed soon.
