TOKYO, JAPAN – After not being sure whether Anthonique Strachan would even compete in the women’s 200m final in Tokyo at the World athletics Championships, Our News received confirmation that she would compete from Team Bahamas’ Head Coach Tito Moss just after 7am Bahamas time (on Friday).

Moss confirmed earlier that Strachan did an MRI which did not reveal any major damage or concern.

She lined up for the race with a heavily taped left leg but had a false start and was disqualified.

Melissa Jefferson would win that race in 21.68s.

Also competing for The Bahamas was Rhema Otabor in the women’s javelin throw group B.

Rhema threw 60.06m, finishing 7th out of 18 participants in her group, placing her 15th overall out of 36 total competitors.

She was just three spots shy of making the final.

HG Christie Limited, The Bahamas’ largest and oldest real estate firm, continues to demonstrate its commitment to community development across the nation by supporting athletic programmes that build character, inspire youth, and strengthen local pride.

Its newest partnership is with the Abaco branch of Alpha Aquatics, helping young swimmers gain access to training, competition, and lifelong skills in the pool.

The Abaco branch, operating out of the Long Bay School pool, is just two years old but has already made waves nationally.

The Head Coach of Alpha Aquatics Abaco is Miller Albury.

Soccer and basketball will remain top disciplines for the university.
