DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – Six people were killed in the Dominican Republic after torrential rains caused havoc on Friday in some areas of the capital Santo Domingo.

Meteorologists said while they were aware of the approaching heavy rains but were surprised by the strength of the sudden downpour.

Poor drainage also contributing to water quickly accumulating and turning streets into quick-flowing torrents.
