NASSAU, BAHAMAS – During a lively Independence Day culinary event, we were treated to more than just a cooking lesson, we were immersed in a true Bahamian experience. On the menu? Bahamian mac and cheese, coleslaw, steamed grouper, and my personal favorite, crab and rice.

But this wasn’t your average cooking class. Dance breaks broke out between dishes, and glasses were raised with ginger hibiscus lemonade and a few spirited sips to keep the vibes flowing.

The energy in the kitchen was electric, that unmistakable “extra” seasoning that only Bahamian culture can bring.

“I like to see my seasonings, if I can’t see them, the pot ain’t right!”
“I sweet mouth, I need more sugar in my coleslaw!”

With dishes plated to perfection, Guest Experience Chef Tevin Kemp guided us through the final step, presentation, before the ultimate reward: a taste test.

TEVIN KEMP – GUEST EXPERIENCE CHEF, BAHA MAR
“Tell me what you think, she seasoned? She got flavor? Of course! I do this.”
“This has been an amazing experience. It’s more than just cooking , it’s about connecting through culture. Whether it’s sky juice, rum, or the way we each prepare a dish, what ties us together is the flavor , and the moot.”
