UNITED STATES – In a matter of hours, Deandre Ayton went from being an offseason afterthought to one of the most highly sought-after names in free agency. The 26-year-old center is now officially a free agent after finalizing a contract buyout with the Portland Trail Blazers, signaling the start of a new chapter in his NBA journey.

The former No. 1 overall pick averaged 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds in 40 starts last season, despite missing time with a calf injury. Amid Portland’s ongoing rebuild, Ayton struggled to find consistency in the lineup, and with the team selecting centers in back-to-back drafts, he found himself on the outside looking in.

Still, Ayton’s value remains strong, he is one of only four players in the league to average at least 10 points and 10 rebounds per season over the last seven years. A cornerstone of the Phoenix Suns’ 2021 NBA Finals run, Ayton was traded to the Trail Blazers in 2023.

76ers Say VJ Edgecombe Was Clear-Cut Best Pick

The Philadelphia 76ers are embracing a new approach to their “Process,” one that centers on players ready to make an immediate impact, like VJ Edgecombe.

On draft night, Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey spoke about selecting Edgecombe with the third overall pick, saying the standout prospect clearly fit into the team’s long-term plans.

“VJ was by far the best choice there,” Morey said, emphasizing that Edgecombe matches the franchise’s blueprint for the future.

Jazz Chisholm’s Hot Bat Powers Yankees to Victory

Jazz Chisholm Jr. is on a tear, and it’s showing up on the scoreboard.

Chisholm launched his 13th home run of the season in the Yankees’ 12–5 rout of the Athletics at Yankee Stadium. The solo shot, which traveled 407 feet, kicked off a four-run second inning for New York. It marked his third homer in the last four games.

But his impact didn’t stop at the plate. On defense, Chisholm made a highlight-reel diving stop at third base that thwarted a potential multi-run inning by Oakland. He finished with four RBIs, helping the Yankees secure their first double-digit win in nearly three weeks and maintain their 1.5-game lead in the AL East.

Bayshore Sports Consultants Hosts Inaugural Weekend Events
