NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Association of Athletic Associations is set to launch the 2026 track and field season with a full holiday weekend of activity, highlighted by the Majority Rule 3k and 5k fun/run/walk on Monday morning, under the theme “Live, Love, Run.”

Before that, the weekend begins with the T-bird flyers track classic on Friday and Saturday at the original Thomas A. Robinson Track and Field Stadium – the first meet of the season to feature full, conventional events across all age groups.

BAAA President Drumeco Archer says the series of events is designed to build momentum for the new season while engaging clubs, athletes, and the general public.

The fun/run/walk gets underway at 6 a.m., featuring 3k and 5k courses from Arawak Cay, and includes a 5x1K club relay.

BBA Looks Ahead After Historic Year For Bahamian Baseball

The Bahamas Baseball Association is coming off a landmark year, and is looking forward to further expansion locally and internationally.

The momentum from 2025 carried over into 2026 with the staging of the country’s first-ever high school baseball national championships.

BBA President CJ Mckenzie called the event a major step for the sport, saying the tournament created a national platform for student-athletes, and looks to further expansion within family islands.

On the international stage, Mckenzie also pointed to The Bahamas climbing to number 40 in the World Baseball Softball Confederation rankings, the highest position in the country’s history, noting that the rise reflects improvements at every level.
