NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Once the all-clear is given, The Bahamas will assist those Caribbean countries slammed by Hurricane Beryl, according to Prime Minister Philip Davis. The hurricane passed through the eastern Caribbean Sea Sunday evening, making landfall in Barbados, Grenada, St. Vincent, and the Grenadines. Davis says he’s contacted the leaders of those Caribbean nations.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines reported one death, while Grenada reported two deaths. The prime ministers of both countries suspect that number will rise as the scope of devastation is revealed. The storm, now categorized as potentially catastrophic, is packing maximum sustained winds of about 160 mph and is headed for Jamaica. Davis says officials there are concerned.
