NASSAU, BAHAMAS – NFL Flag Football is expanding to the Caribbean and The Bahamas is the NFL’s first stop.

Officials from the National Football League want to bring football to all corners of the globe, and they’re doing just that making The Bahamas the first country in the region where the NFL Flag program will be launched. The official announcement came yesterday at a press conference at the national stadium. NFL Flag Global Ambassador and first female international NFL coach Phoebe Schecter says they only hope to build on what the current flag football community has already established.

And, Schecter goes further adding that the young generation is the key to it all.

Sports Minister Mario Bowleg was also on hand for the official announcement…

Other events surrounding the launch will include school tours, public engagement activities and games at the Thomas A. Robinson stadium as well as a community roundtable featuring Bahamian government leaders, students, community advocates and others.

BJ Murray continues to ball out for the Chicago Cubs double-a affiliate, the Tennesee Smokies.

The 23-year-old switch-hitting infielder is hitting .277 with 7 home runs, 33 RBI and a smoking hot .912 OPS, good for 2nd in the league.

He’s also led his team to a division-best 30-23 record.

Just last night he helped his team to an 11-2 blowout over the Rocket City Trash Pandas, going 2-5 with a double and an RBI.

The way he’s mashing the ball, don’t be shocked if he ends the season on the northsiders’ 52-man roster.
