NASSAU, BAHAMAS – With just weeks to go before race day, excitement is building for the 13th Annual Bahamas Half Marathon, set for November 23rd.

The event, hosted by the Bahamas Roadmasters Running Club, will feature a half-marathon, 10K, 5K, and relay races.

Roadmasters President Siobhan Lightbourne-Maura says registration is off to a strong start, with just over 200 participants already signed up. Their goal is 450 runners, and weekly registration drives at Goodman’s Bay will continue until the week before the race. Runners can also register online.

Participants are traveling from as far as Canada, Africa, and the United Kingdom. Among the newcomers is Monica Charlton of Paradise Run Club, who says 17 weeks of disciplined training and consistency have prepared her for her first half-marathon.

Sponsors, including the Insurance Commission of The Bahamas and Bahamas Power and Light, say supporting the race is part of their mission to promote healthy lifestyles and empower communities.

The event is also open to those who prefer a slower pace. Lightbourne-Maura says walkers are welcome, joking that participants can “run, walk, roll, whatever it takes to get to the finish line,” adding that everyone will receive a finisher’s medal.

Organizers are reminding the public that there will be no registration on the morning of the race, making it important for participants to sign up ahead of time.
