Bahamas to Host Two Major International Darts Events

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas is set to become the center of Caribbean darts over the next ten days, as the Bahamas Darts Federation will host two major international competitions at the St. John’s College Auditorium in Nassau, bringing together players from across the Caribbean and Latin America.

The action begins with the Championship Darts Latin America and Caribbean (CDLC) Tournament, scheduled for July 24th through 26th.

The event will feature competitors from Argentina, The Bahamas, Barbados, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guyana, Jamaica, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Immediately following the CDLC Championship, The Bahamas will host the Caribbean Darts Organization (CDO) Caribbean Cup from July 27th through August 2nd.

The second tournament will feature national teams from The Bahamas, Barbados, the Cayman Islands, Florida, Guyana, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Under the theme “Two Great Events. One Destination,” the tournaments represent a major opportunity for The Bahamas to showcase its ability to host international sporting events while providing local darts players the chance to compete against some of the region’s top talent on home soil.

Jones, Liberty Head Into All-Star Break With Comeback Win

Jonquel Jones closed out the first half of the WNBA season with another double-double as the New York Liberty stormed back to defeat the Chicago Sky 95-94 at Barclays Center, heading into the All-Star Break with back-to-back victories.

Jones finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds – her fifth double-double in her last six games, while Breanna Stewart added 20 points and nine rebounds.

The Liberty trailed by as many as 12 points in the fourth quarter, and we’re still down eight with less than a minute to play before staging a remarkable comeback.

Sabrina Ionescu took over down the stretch, scoring nine of her game-high 29 points in the final minute.

She connected on a clutch three-pointer, completed a three-point play, and helped spark a 10-1 closing run that completely changed the game.

With the score tied at 94, Jones drew a foul with 3.4 seconds remaining and calmly knocked down the go-ahead free throw.

She missed the second attempt intentionally to prevent Chicago from advancing the ball, and the Sky’s last-second heave fell short as the Liberty escaped with the one-point victory.

The win improved New York to 15-12 on the season and Jones will now turn her attention to the WNBA All-Star Game, where she’ll represent the Liberty as a 6x All-Star.

BBA Hosts Second Youth All-Star Weekend

The Bahamas’ top young baseball players are set to take center stage this weekend.

The Bahamas Baseball Association (BBA) will host its second annual National Youth All-Star Weekend, bringing together the country’s best players in the 8U, 10U and 12U divisions for a three-day showcase of talent.

The festivities begin on Friday evening with Media Day at the Andre Rodgers National Stadium followed by a several skills challenges.

Saturday and Sunday will feature several exhibitions between the opposing teams.

The event serves as a celebration of The Bahamas’ growing youth baseball program, rewarding players for their performance throughout the season while providing them with an opportunity to compete alongside and against the best young talent in the country.

The All-Star Weekend is expected to attract players, coaches, parents and fans from across the country as the next generation of Bahamian baseball continues to develop.
