Bahamas Volleyball Falls to Curaçao and Barbados

CURAÇAO – Team Bahamas fell in straight sets to Curaçao last night on their home court. They fought hard in the first set before falling 25-21.

Curaçao dominated the second set 25-8.

The Bahamas had a stronger showing in the third set before ultimately falling 25-20.

Following the Curaçao match, they had to go back to the room, rest up, and play Barbados this morning.

They also fell in straight sets.

They lost the first one 25-21, the second set 25-18, and the final set 25-20, to fall to 0-2 in the tournament.

Bahamas Women’s Team Wins Final Game in Nicaragua

Team Bahamas had a strong finish to the FIBA AmeriCup Women’s Qualifiers, taking down the host country Nicaragua 80-65 in the final consolation match.

Antonecia Moultrie led the effort for The Bahamas, dropping 25 points, 11 rebounds, swiping 2 steals and blocking two shots as well.

Valerie Nesbitt ran the show for The Bahamas as well, scoring 22 points and dishing out 8 assists.

Meanwhile, conference USA player of the year Rhema Collins was the glue, scoring 15 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing out 5 assists.

The win left the team with something positive to leave the tournament with because it was a rough one.

They lost top scorer Lashan Higgs then fell to the Dominican Republic and Mexico in group play and the USVI in the knockout rounds.
