Bahamian Content Creator Makes Her Mark in China

NASSAU , BAHAMAS – The Bahamas has shared close ties with the People’s Republic of China for decades.

While many Chinese nationals have made The Bahamas their home, some Bahamians have also embraced life in China.

One of them is Princia Chiripanyanga, a content creator who relocated to China a few years after the COVID-19 pandemic, where she has been documenting her experiences and sharing her life abroad.

“So my brand is called Princia Connect. Again, they said where I connect my audience with products, people, and places with a purpose.”

“I started doing these interviews where I would teach people from all over the world Bahamian phrases because when people see me, they talk. They can’t understand what I say. ‘Where are you from?’ I can’t pinpoint. I’m like, you can’t hear the Caribbean? You can’t hear the island thing?”

Before making the move permanent, she completed her education in China, earning a doctorate degree. She describes her experience as both exciting and consistent.

But it’s not all fun and adventure. Princia also works as an English educator, helping students develop their language skills.

While many may assume learning a second language is difficult, Princia says she never took formal language classes. Instead, she learned through everyday interactions and by immersing herself in the culture.

She says she hopes to see more Bahamian youth take advantage of international opportunities.

“There are so many scholarships available to Bahamians, especially to actually come abroad and study. But I think that’s where my passion for creating comes in because people have a mystery, there’s a lot of misunderstanding about China and the lifestyle of China. I believe that education is one major way that allows scholarships, through studying, through traveling, as well as business.”
