NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Camille Rutherford has her sights on the 2028 Olympics set for Los Angeles but, before that, she must keep her sights focused on the World Championships scheduled for next month in Tokyo.

Rutherford shared what her training will look like leading into the big September meet and the difference in weather between here and in Houston where she spends most of her time.

The niece of Olympic bronze medalist Frank Rutherford also shared that meal preparation is paramount to her training.

“I just make sure everything on the menu is healthy,” she said.

“It’s really nothing specific, maybe a fruit or some nuts in there, of course a protein like fish or chicken, whatever I’m feeling whatever my body is feeling like – like you said strictly water too and also making sure I’m mentally prepped.”

Rutherford shared that taking care of one’s mental health is very important.

“I believe it’s actually more important. You know with the physical you can be prepared, eating everything right, right weight everything but mentally if you’re not confident, not ready nothing, you won’t be able to execute.”

Rutherford did manage to have some fun while she was here at home and thanked a few special people for her track journey thus far including her grandmother and Olympian Pauline Davis.
