U.S.A.- Jazz Chisholm Jr and the New York Yankees will officially begin their postseason run Saturday in the American League Divisional Series.
The top seeded yankees will host the no. 5 Kansas City Royals at Yankee Stadium for Game 1. First pitch is set for 6:38 pm.
The Yankees received a bye while the royals swept the Baltimore Orioles to advance.
An intense postseason rivalry in the late 70s, this marks the first postseason meeting between these teams since 1980.
Chisholm has had two postseason appearances with the Marlins – in 2020 when they advanced to the NLDS and last year in the wild card round.
And of course Jazz won’t be the only Bahamian in the divisional round.
Antoan Richardson and the New York Mets continue to channel the spirit of the miracle mets of 1969.
Pete Alonso came up clutch and capped another Mets comeback with his three run home run in the ninth inning to clinch game three of the NL Wild Card series on the road in Milwaukee.
Richardson’s team now has a quick turnaround to prepare to face a familiar foe, the philadelphia phillies. First pitch is at 4:08 pm on Saturday.
The Mets and Phillies have faced off nearly 1,100 times in the regular season, but this series will be the first postseason matchup between the longtime NL East rivals.
NBA
As Bahamians in the NBA get going in training camp, several of those players reflected on how the national team experience last summer has prepared them for the upcoming season.
Buddy Hield and Deandre Ayton recounted how their run at the olympic qualifier in Spain set the tone for what’s to come.
Sailing
Youth sailing takes center stage in Exuma this weekend at the Fidelity Optimist National Championships.
The event returns to the Exuma Sailing Club for the first time since 2021 in conjunction with The Bahamas optimist dinghy association and the Bahamas Sailing Association.
Over 40 young sailors from across The Bahamas will compete over the next two days in Elizabeth Harbor.
